SPRINGFIELD, Ore.- A former member of the Springfield Board of Realtors resigned after she suggested a change in meeting venues because of controversy surrounding the group’s current location, Along Came Trudy, a restaurant in Springfield.

Kaydee Hallert is a real estate broker based in Eugene. She told KEZI 9 News she was given an ultimatum.

“Either you resign, or we’re going to vote you out,” said Hallert. 

Hallert says the Springfield Board meets every month.

Along Came Trudy has been fined over $50,000 by Oregon OSHA for alleged COVID-19 violations. And now that Lane County is open again, the board is palnning to resume its meetings there.

Hallert said she tried to get the board to change the location of the meetings, but she said they refused to budge.

“I chose to leave because they are in denial over what’s happening at the location they like to go for their meetings, and run their business out of,” said Hallert. 

In her letter of resignation to the board, Hallert said the following: “The board leadership’s decision to continue the organization’s relationship with a business that has deliberately violated the law, publicly and proudly advertised its decision to do so, and has become a local haven for White supremacists is deeply troubling.”

KEZI 9 News reached out to owner Trudy Logan, but have not heard back yet. 

The Springfield Board of Realtors issued a statement earlier this evening, saying “a former board member” has disparaged them, an apparant reference to Hallert. 

“The hate speech that has been perpetrated this last week has hurt many individual members of our association,” said the letter. 

Hallert said while she does not have any ill feelings towards her now former colleagues, she still has hopes that things will change in the future. 

“I would love for them to acknowledge like, ‘okay you’re right we shouldn’t meet here, we’re going to do better and we’re going to find a different place,’ and instead I get ‘it’s business as usual’ kind of deal,” said Hallert. 

While Hallert is no longer a part of the Springfield Board of Realtors, she is still a member of the Eugene Association of Realtors, as she has been for 15 years.
