Myongji Medical Foundation said Monday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thai Binh Province in Vietnam for cooperation in the medical field.

The two parties signed the MOU during the Korea-Vietnam Economic Cooperation Forum 2022, commemorating the 30th anniversary of Korea-Vietnam diplomatic ties held in Hanoi, Vietnam, last Friday.

Under the MoU, Myongji Hospital will provide comprehensive consulting on establishing the Thai Binh Provincial Hospital in Vietnam and medical cooperation with related institutions such as the Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Thái Bình Hospital.

About 10 healthcare professionals from Thái Bình Hospital will also receive training at Myongji Hospital in March next year.

The agreement comes after Myongji Hospital officials, including Chairman Lee Wang-jun, visited Thai Binh Province in September to discuss ways to cooperate in the training and education of medical personnel and provide comprehensive consulting.

“Starting with medical cooperation with Thai Binh, Myongji Hospital plans to diversify its medical business in Vietnam, including major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh,” Chairman Lee said. “The hospital plans to enter Vietnam in an innovative style different from the method promoted by other Korean medical institutions.”

Ngo Dong Hai, Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee, also said, “We expect Thái Bình will be able to build a more specialized and higher quality medical network through cooperation with Myongji Medical Foundation, which has high-quality medical know-how.”
