Karren Knowlton’s research centers on catalysts for change at work. Her primary focus is on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) topics, including what motivates marginalized group members to become trailblazers at work, how majority group members can become effective allies, and how the connections and relationships that structure more autonomous work can differentially impact the identities, reputations, and outcomes of those from marginalized groups. She also examines the micro underpinnings of organizational and institutional change. Knowlton’s research has won multiple grants and awards and been published in leading management journals, including the Academy of Management Journal. She has taught management seminars at the Wharton School and served as a graduate fellow for teaching excellence at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Teaching and Learning. Before her academic career, she worked as a mechanical design engineer for Nike, Inc. Knowlton earned her PhD in organizational behavior from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and her MBA and her BS in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.

Jong Myeong Lim is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Operations and Management Science group at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. His research lies at the intersection of health-care operations management and health economics. Lim’s work focuses on incentivizing and improving the efficiency and quality of health-care systems by addressing key operational challenges, including capacity management, incentive misalignment, and patient access to care. He was awarded first place in the 2021 MSOM Student Paper Competition and second place in the 2022 POMS College of Healthcare Operations Management Best Paper Competition. Before his career in academia, Lim worked as a business analyst at Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. He earned his BA in economics and MPA in health policy and management from New York University, his MA in economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and his PhD in managerial science and applied economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
